Does your family love chicken but not want all the calories from eating oily fried chicken? Look no further than this air fried breaded chicken recipe. This uses no oil and still comes out super crispy!
Want to make it gluten-free? Just buy gluten-free bread crumbs such as rice crumbs instead.
You can use any kind of bread crumbs you want for this recipe – even panko would be good.
How to Make Air Fryer Breaded Chicken Cutlets
First gather all of your ingredients for this recipe. You will need:
- 1 egg
- Breadcrumbs
- 2 Chicken cutlets – or 1 chicken breast sliced in half
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic Powder
Step one for this recipe is to crack the egg into a bowl and whisk it. Then pour some breadcrumbs into a separate plate or shallow bowl.
Don’t forget to spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray. This will keep the chicken from sticking!
Next you are going to season the chicken. Sprinkle on salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. You can also use any other seasonings you like here! Feel free to be creative. Make sure to season both sides!
If you want to do more than 2 cutlets, you can do them in batches. You do not want the chicken to overlap in the air fryer.
Next dip 1 cutlet into the egg, coating both sides. Then place the chicken in the breadcrumbs and cover it well. Place the cutlet in the air fryer basket. Repeat with second cutlet.
Then set the temperature of air fryer to 400F and the time to 10 minutes. I find that minutes is enough time for thin cutlets, but if yours are a bit thick, set it for 15 minutes.
Halfway through cooking, take out the air fryer basket and use a spatula to flip over the cutlets. This will ensure even browning on both sides.
Return the basket to the air fryer and let it finish cooking. When done, check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. Make sure the chicken is at least 165F before removing.
When finished, take out and enjoy! See my ideas for pairing with sides below!
