Air Fryer Brownies

The realization that you can eliminate the oven for baking some of your favorite desserts was amazing. No need to heat up the entire kitchen for a quick batch of brownies, or other dishes either. The air fryer gives the same results as the oven for these box brownies.

How to Make Brownies from Mix in the Air Fryer

For the most delicious fudgy brownie in the air fryer with boxed brownie mix, you’ll only need a few ingredients and a pan that will fit.

I used a springform pan which allowed for easy removal in and out of the air fryer. It also made it simple to take the cookie brown out of the pan and onto a serving dish.

Because we’re not using the entire box of brownies for this air fryer dessert recipe, you can store the remaining dry mix in an air-tight container until ready to make another batch. Who knows, it may be right after you make the first one! They are so delicious and fudgy that it’s hard to resist having more.

Ingredients

Boxed Brownie Mix – You’ll only need 1 ½ cups of brownie mix for this air fryer recipe.
1 large egg
¼ cup of oil

Hand holding a box of brownie mix next to the cooked brownie in the air fryer basket.

Spray pan with non-stick spray.

Whisk one egg in a bowl. Then whisk in the oil.

Add 1 ½ cups brownie mix from the store-bought brownie box.

Use a spoon or rubber spatula to fold the brownie batter together until just combined.

Pour the brownie batter into the pan and place it into the air fryer.

Set the air fryer to 320 for 20 minutes.

Once finished, remove the basket and let the brownie cool and rest for 15 minutes. This will allow the brownie to firm up and give you that fudgy brownie texture.

When the brownie is cooled, remove the pan. If using a spring form pan you can undo the sides and life the brownie off the bottom onto your serving dish to cut into squares.

If using a regular baking pan then make your cuts in the pan and serve.

Recipe Tips

  • Fudgy goodness – The brownies cook just long enough to set and may look undercooked when removed from the air fryer. This is normal and the brownie will harden after resting.

  • Use parchment paper – If you do not have a springform pan and use a regular round baking pan, you can line the pan with parchment paper for easy removal after baking.
  • Additions – If you want to make this brownie air fryer recipe extra delicious, when folding in the dry mix from the boxed brownies, fold in some of your favorite additions!

What can I add to the air fryer boxed brownies mix?

  • Chocolate chips
  • White Chocolate
  • Walnuts
  • Shredded Coconut and Pecans (think German Chocolate Cake)
  • Peanut butter – heat for a few seconds and swirl into the batter.
  • Berries

Storage

Store the remaining dry mix from the box in an air-tight container.

Great recipe! Thanks for doing the trial & error research to make it work! Didn’t hurt that you use same mix I do.
I always add warmed peanut butter plus other flavor enhancers to this mix but they always turn out awesome! Thanks again!
