If you are wanting to cook boneless skinless chicken thighs as quickly as possible without overcooking or drying them out, take a look at this recipe! Not only do they get a nice roasted color on the outside, but when you make air fryer chicken thighs, you end up with some juicy chicken. This is definitely a must-try!
Air Fryer Chicken Thighs
I recently made a couple of boneless chicken thighs in the pan skillet and it was recently my favorite way of making this kind of chicken. While I still like to make it this way when I have time, I’ve found I could roast chicken thighs in the air fryer when I’m on a time crunch!
They really come out juicy and amazing. So delicious!
Different Ways To Season The Chicken Thighs
So when I start out trying a new recipe, I usually always stick to a real simple salt and pepper seasoning but you can change it up if you like!
Now that I have mastered this method of cooking chicken thighs in the air fryer, I have been experimenting with tons of different flavor combos.
These are some of my favorites:
- Greek Seasoning– Marinated in Greek yogurt and herb seasonings for some delicious Greek chicken.
Spicy Chili Lime– Just add a bit of chili powder and sweet paprika along with a dash of red pepper flakes and it will really give these chicken thighs a kick! - Lemon Garlic– Add a big squeeze of lemon and a bunch of chopped garlic to make this extra yummy.
- Everything Bagel Seasoning – Not just for bagels, it’s great on chicken too!
How To Make Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs In The Air Fryer
Before you prep the chicken, make sure to wash and clean the chicken well. After you have cleaned it, make sure to pat it down with paper towels before adding any seasonings.
Place the boneless skinless chicken thighs in a large bowl and drizzle it with olive oil. Sprinkle in your preferred seasonings (I used salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning).
Toss with your hands to evenly coat chicken thighs with oil and seasonings.
Add the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook the chicken thighs in the air fryer at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
Cooking Tips
- To get an even cook through, make sure to not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
- Use sugar-free keto BBQ sauce if you are trying to keep this meal keto. Or, you can make your own BBQ sauce in the Instant Pot!
What To Serve With Roasted Chicken Thighs
These roasted and juicy chicken thighs pair really well with spicy garlic sesame sauteed kale and cauliflower fried rice!
You can also keep this chicken in the fridge and have it ready to use when needed. You can use it with many of these salad recipes or serve it with a quick air fried sweet potato or air fried baked potato.

I resisted getting an air fryer right up until two things happened, I found out about the Ninja Foodi Grill and you published this recipe. I wanted the Foodi Grill for the grill feature, that it was an air fryer was a bonus. I love chicken thighs and have always pan fried them. Your chicken thighs recipe was the first I tried using the air fryer and the results were perfect.
I’ve used many of your instant pot recipes (your potato salad recipe rivals my mom’s which is awesome) and today I see you have bread machine recipes, too.
Great job Melanie, thanks for all the work you do for us.
Very good recipe. I added paprika but did everything else according to your recipe. First time trying chicken in the air fryer. Quick, simple and delicious! Definately will repeat this one! Thank you
I needed a quick recipe and this was it! I can see myself making this at least once a week! Thank you for a quick, easy, delicious and healthy recipe!
This basic recipe provides the technique and leaves the details to the cook. I used a little Italian salad dressing, olive oil, basil, chopped garlic, parsley, & red pepper flakes to coat the chicken and, dredged it in Panko bread crumbs. 20 min. @ 400 in the air fryer was just right. Came out crispy and moist!
Great recipe, a nice change for my wife and I. Turned out great, she likes it especially since she is on the Keto diet. Cheers.
I have an air fryer for two people so it’s smaller but perfect for fries. This is the first time I used it to make chicken thighs. I use boneless, skinless thighs and had to make them in two batches. I set the timer for 20 min but checked at 14 minutes and they were done. Same with batch two.
I usually make them in my Insta Pot but using the air fryer was easier and quicker. Thank you for this great recipe!
The recipe was good. However the cook time of 20 minutes at 400 degrees left the thighs too dry. I checked them at 10 minutes and they were already at 195 degrees. Will try again with 380 degrees for 8 minutes and see how that works. I did check several other recipes on line and also suggested 20 minutes at 400. Puzzles me.
