Air Fryer Frittata Omelette

I love to make frittatas for breakfast so I decided to try and cook it in the air fryer to see if it changed the texture or flavors—it didn’t! It was just as yummy as when I make it in the oven but I felt it was faster to cook this way.

Don’t have an air fryer? That’s okay! You can easily transfer this recipe to cook it in the oven. Follow the instructions on how to make an oven-baked egg frittata in this post!

How To Make A Fritatta In The Air Fryer

Before you start cooking, make sure to spray the bottom and sides of a baking dish that fits inside the air fryer with some cooking spray (I used the 7-inch springform pan that fits into both my Air Fryer and Instant Pot).

After you are done prepping, place the baking dish inside the air fryer basket.

In a separate bowl, mix the eggs, your choice of vegetables, salt, pepper, and the shredded cheese.

Tips for Success

  • Choose the Right Dish: Use a 7-inch non-stick baking dish or springform pan that fits snugly in your air fryer. This ensures even cooking and makes cleanup easier.
  • Whisk Thoroughly: Beat the eggs well to incorporate air. This step is essential for a fluffy and light frittata.
  • Don’t Overfill: Leave some space at the top of the dish, as the eggs will puff up while cooking.
  • Check for Doneness: Insert a knife or toothpick into the center of the frittata. If it comes out clean, it’s ready. If not, add a few more minutes of cook time.
  • Prep Ahead: Chop your vegetables and shred your cheese in advance to save time in the morning.
  • Experiment with Ingredients: Try adding cooked meats like sausage or ham for extra protein. You can also play with different cheese and vegetable combinations to keep things interesting.
  • Let It Cool Slightly: Allow the frittata to sit for a few minutes after removing it from the air fryer. This makes slicing easier and lets the flavors meld.
  • Clean Your Air Fryer: After cooking, clean your air fryer and baking dish promptly to prevent residue build-up.

Storage and Reheating

  • Storage: Let the frittata cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Freezing: Slice the frittata into individual portions and wrap each piece in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Place the wrapped slices in a freezer-safe bag or container and freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Reheating in the Microwave: Place a slice on a microwave-safe plate and heat on medium power for 1-2 minutes, or until warmed through.
  • Reheating in the Air Fryer: Heat the slice in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes for a freshly cooked texture.
  • Reheating in the Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F, cover the frittata with foil, and heat for 10-15 minutes.
