Don’t have time to make hashbrowns from scratch? Try cooking a batch of frozen shredded hashbrowns in the air fryer instead! These air fryer frozen hashbrowns turn out deliciously crispy and salty- the perfect side dish for any breakfast plate!
Air Fryer Frozen Hashbrowns
I always try to make my own hashbrowns from scratch for family breakfast because my kids absolutely love it. The only problem is it can be pretty time-consuming and I just don’t always have the time to shred the potatoes from scratch. For times like that, I typically try to keep a bag or two of frozen hashbrowns in my freezer.
Between the frozen hashbrowns and using the air fryer to cook them, I’ve cut my breakfast prep time by almost half!
And, I have to admit- Cooking the frozen hashbrowns in the air fryer has not only been life-changing but they taste just as amazing as when I make them from scratch! They turn out perfectly crispy and crunchy every time.
You’re going to love it!

How To Cook Frozen Shredded Hashbrowns In The Air Fryer
Making hashbrowns for breakfast has never been easier!
Start by placing the frozen hashbrowns and vegetable oil in a bowl and toss with your hands until the hashbrowns are coated with the oil.
Add the frozen hashbrowns into the air fryer basket. Set the air fryer to 400F.
For tender hashbrowns, set the cooking time to 15 minutes.
For really crispy hashbrowns, set the cooking time for 18 minutes.
After about 5 minutes, mix the hashbrowns with a spatula to make sure nothing is sticking to the bottom of the air fryer basket. Then, place the basket back into the air fryer.
After another 5 minutes, mix the hashbrowns again and place the air fryer basket back into the air fryer and let them finish cooking.
Remove the cooked hashbrowns from the air fryer and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve and enjoy!
Cooking Tip:
- If you don’t like regular white potatoes, swap them out for sweet potato hashbrowns!

I made these this morning and it turned out excellent. I used Avocado spray to mix with the potatoes and cooked 17 minutes. I followed the directions but did use an aluminum pie plate in the airfryer. Now the only way I will ever cook hashbrowns.
These hashbrowns are crispy perfection! So much better than microwaving them.
These hashbrowns are so good, that I could eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
