I love making pierogies when I am in the mood for some comforting food!

Did you know pierogies are originally from Central and Eastern Europe? They were brought to the U.S. through immigrants and became popular.

Essentially they are dumplings made with unleavened dough wrapped around a sweet or savory filling. They can be cooked in boiling water and often then pan-fried.

Traditionally they are served with sour cream and applesauce!

How to Cook Frozen Pierogies in the Air Fryer

The first step is to open the package of pierogies and place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure they are not stuck together or overlapping.

Then, optionally, pour some vegetable oil in a small bowl. Use a basting brush to coat the top of each pierogi in some oil. You do not have to do this step but it will create a nice brown exterior. Then flip over each pierogi and brush the other side with oil too.

Next put the basket in the air fryer and set the temperature to 390F for 8 minutes.

After 4 minutes, remove the basket from the air fryer and use a spatula to flip each pierogi over. This will ensure both sides are cooked evenly.

Then return the basket to the air fryer and let finish cooking.

Once done, remove with spatula, serve hot and enjoy!

These are even better with condiments so don’t forget the sour cream and applesauce!
