What To Make With Hard-Boiled Eggs

When it comes to hard-boiled eggs, there are so many ways you can use them. I like to always make a couple of hard-boiled eggs and keep them in the fridge to have as a snack for the week.

I will also make a batch of the hard-boiled eggs to my salads for the week. These are some of my favorite egg salad recipes:

I also like to cook hard-boiled eggs in the air fryer when I am planning to make my famous deviled eggs for a get-together or party appetizer!

Variations And Substitutions

  • Soft-Boiled Eggs: If you prefer softer yolks, reduce the cooking time to 9-10 minutes. Follow the same ice bath method to stop the cooking process.
  • Jammy Eggs: For that perfect jammy texture, cook the eggs in the air fryer for 12 minutes at 275°F.
  • Seasoned Eggs: Once peeled, roll the eggs in spices like paprika, everything bagel seasoning, or chili powder for a flavor-packed snack.
  • Quail Eggs: Use the same method for quail eggs, but adjust the cooking time to about 6-8 minutes for hard-boiled, depending on their size.
  • Duck Eggs: Larger than chicken eggs, these need about 18 minutes in the air fryer at the same temperature to become hard-boiled.

Storage and Reheating

  • Storage: Store unpeeled hard-boiled eggs in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 7 days. If the eggs are peeled, keep them submerged in water in a sealed container to maintain freshness. Change the water daily.
  • Reheating: To enjoy warm hard-boiled eggs, place them in a bowl of hot (but not boiling) water for about 5 minutes. This gently warms them without overcooking.
  • Freezing: It’s not recommended to freeze hard-boiled eggs as the texture of the whites changes and becomes rubbery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cook soft-boiled eggs in the air fryer?

Yes! For soft-boiled eggs with runny yolks, cook the eggs at 275°F for about 9-10 minutes. Be sure to place them in an ice bath immediately after cooking to stop the process.

How do I prevent the eggs from cracking during cooking?

Ensure the eggs are in a single layer and handle them gently when placing them in the air fryer. Avoid overcrowding, as this can lead to movement and cracking during cooking.

Can I cook more than one layer of eggs at a time?

It’s best to cook the eggs in a single layer for even heat distribution. If you need to cook a large batch, do so in multiple rounds for consistent results.

What should I do if my air fryer cooks unevenly?

If your air fryer has hot spots, rotate the eggs halfway through the cooking time to ensure even results.

Why are my eggs difficult to peel?

Fresh eggs tend to be harder to peel. If possible, use eggs that are a week or two old. The ice bath also helps loosen the shell, making peeling easier.
