Leeks in the Air Fryer
We love to use our air fryer for side dishes. Not only do the ingredients crisp up perfectly in the air fryer, but they cook without any extra attention or supervision. Just season, pop in the air fryer basket, and they’ll cook up while you prep other recipes. Love that!
These leeks are delicious on their own as a side dish, or you can add them to all sorts of recipes. Crispy and flavorful, these leeks would make an excellent topping for casseroles, soups, stir fry’s, and pasta. They taste like onions, just milder.

How To Make Air Fryer Leeks
First we need to prep the leeks. Thoroughly wash them and then chop off the dark green part– it’s inedible. Next cut the white part of the leek into slices.
Add slices to a mixing bowl and season them. You’ll use olive oil, salt, and pepper. You can also use any additional seasonings you love. Toss to coat leeks in toppings.
Add leeks to air fryer basket. Set to cook at 390 for 10 minutes. Halfway through cooking, pull out basket and use a spatula to mix up leeks.
Once cooking time is over, remove air fryer basket and move leeks to a serving bowl.
Cooking Tips
- If after you slice the leek, you still see traces of dirt, go ahead and rinse the leek slices again
- This recipe calls for olive oil, but you can use any type of vegetable oil you prefer
- Be sure to mix up leeks halfway through cooking time, to ensure even cooking
Are You Supposed To Peel Leeks?
No, just be sure to wash any dirt off of them before eating raw or cooking. Always slice off the dark green part. The white part can be chopped and then cooked up with seasonings.
What Is The Difference Between Leeks and Green Onions?
Although they look similar, leeks and green onions are not the same. Leeks are much larger and have a more mild flavor than green onions. Sometimes they can even be slightly sweet. Both are delicious when roasted and add a fresh flavor to many dishes.
