Plantains in Air Fryer
Your whole family will love these Air Fryer Plantains as a healthy snack! And it’s so easy to prepare them. Just slice, season, and cook for 10 minutes. You can eat them like chips, dip in sauces, or use them to top salads, sandwiches, and so much more! They are so wholesome and delicious.
We like to match the seasonings to the dish that we are topping. So sprinkle on cinnamon for making a yogurt parfait, add a dash of nutmeg to use these in cereal, or bake with a pinch of chili powder and use the plantains in a taco bowl. So many possibilities! You’ll love the versatility of these plantains. And straight out of the air fryer they are crispy, golden brown perfection – like chips!

How To Make Air Fryer Plantain Chips
Peel and slice up the plantain into equal-sized pieces. Add slices to a mixing bowl.
Top with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt and paprika. Use a spoon to toss plantains in seasonings. Make sure they are coated evenly.
Place plantain slices in air fryer basket, in a single layer. Cook at 390 degrees, for 10 minutes. Halfway through cooking time, remove basket and flip (or shake) plantain slices. This helps them to brown more evenly.
Once cooking time is over, remove plantain slices from air fryer and serve.
Cooking Tips
- You can slice the plantain on a diagonal or in any shape
- Olive oil is totally optional here. It does help the plantains brown up a bit more during the cooking process
- This recipe shows one plantain, but you can cook as many as you would like–as long as they fit in a single layer in the air fryer. This is important for making crispy plantain slices.
What Is a Hack For Peeling Plantains?
If you stored the plantain in the fridge, place it on the kitchen counter and allow it to come to room temperature before peeling. Cold plantains are much harder to peel.
