The air fryer is the perfect appliance for cooking this dish. No need to defrost! Air Fryer Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken is a delightful easy meal for busy nights.
Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken in the Air Fryer
Just 10 minutes in the air fryer for delicious, tender, flavorful chicken. It really couldn’t be easier to make this popular Trader Joe’s dish. And it’s a crowd favorite for good reasons! The chicken cooks up crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. And the sauce is just the right mix of sweet and salty. You’re probably craving it right now!
Luckily, it is super quick and easy to make this frozen dish in the air fryer. Don’t worry about thawing out the chicken, it’s not necessary with the air fryer. Just open the package, remove the sauce packets, and dump the chicken into the air fryer basket. While chicken is crisping up, you can heat the sauce in bowl, and get it ready to mix with the chicken.
Once the chicken is cooked and coated in sauce, you can add a side salad or toss some frozen (heated) veggies into the chicken and sauce mixture. So easy to make a complete meal the whole family will love!

How To Make Air Fryer Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken
Start by opening up the package of frozen chicken. Remove the sauce packets to use in a minute.
Add chicken to the basket of an air fryer. Cook at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, pausing halfway through to remove basket and shake chicken a bit. Replace basket in air fryer for remaining cooking time.
While chicken is heating up, squeeze sauce packets into a medium-sized mixing bowl. Heat sauce in microwave for about 1 minute or until fully defrosted.
Once chicken is done, pull out air fryer basket and pour chicken pieces into mixing bowl. Use a large spoon to toss chicken in sauce and coat evenly.
Cooking Tips
- No need to defrost, the air fryer heats the chicken from frozen
- Squeezing the sauce packets and heating them up in a mixing bowl makes it easier to toss the hot chicken in the sauce
- Be sure to toss the chicken around at the halfway point of cooking, to heat the chicken pieces evenly
