How To Make Chocolate Chip Scones
Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy clean-up. Fit the food processor with a steel blade.
Slice a stick of butter into 8 pieces and add to food processor.
Also add flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Close up food processor and alternate with blending for 10 seconds and pulsing 20 times. Finish off with about a minute of blending or until the flour and butter are combined into small pieces.
Then add milk and vanilla. Blend ingredients again for about 15-20 seconds or until dough becomes a ball inside the food processor.
Use a spoon to move the dough ball to a bowl. Add in chocolate chips by hand. Then shape the dough into a ball and lay it out on a preparation surface. Press until flattened and use a butter knife to slice into 8 segments.
Lay scone dough pieces on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Bake in oven for 21 minutes.
Check scone doneness by piercing one in the middle with a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean, then the scones are done baking.
Allow scones to cool before serving.
Cooking Tips
- Add chocolate chips by hand as the food processor would chop them up
- You may need to use your fingers to shape the dough triangles
- If, at the end of baking time, the scones are not done, simply bake for another few minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the scones are baked throughout
