Freshly shredded cheese is so easy to make using a food processor, plus it tastes much better than the packaged kind! You can use any type of cheese you want, whether it’s American, Mozzarella, or Cheddar!
Shredded cheese is so useful to have in the fridge or freezer. I like to make a big batch of shredded cheese and then freeze it for future use. That way it will be all ready to go once defrosted! It keeps in the fridge for up to 1 week.
Making your own shredded cheese is also cheaper than buying pre-shredded cheese! You will get more bang for your buck by buying a block of cheese and shredding it yourself at home.
Not to mention, freshly shredded cheese tastes much better than pre-shredded!
Don’t be intimidated by the food processor. It is very easy to use and saves so much time! Who wants to grate an entire block of cheese by hand when the food processor can do it for you in just minutes?
How to Make Shredded Cheese in the Food Processor
All you need is your food processor and an 8 oz. block of any type of cheese you like. In only a few minutes, you will have freshly shredded cheese!
Why not try blending two cheeses together such as monterey jack and cheddar? Now you can have the perfect batch of shredded cheese to use in enchiladas or tacos!
The first thing you need to do is set up your food processor with the round shredder disk as seen in the image higher up.
Next you will need to cut up your block of cheese into chunks small enough that they fit in the food processor chute.
Next you will turn on the food processor and process the cheese, pressing down on the chute, until all of the cheese is shredded.
Once the cheese is completely shredded, turn off the food processor and remove the cheese. Seal it in an air tight bag or container for up to 1 week in the fridge.
