Do you know what happens to bananas when you fry them!?! In just a matter of minutes, they turn to a beautiful golden brown as they caramelize and become sweeter with no extra sugar added! So you are going to fall in love with these yummy fried bananas if you’ve never had them before.

And because there is no extra sugar added it makes them a fairly healthy dessert or snack, which means fried bananas are perfect for the little ones as well as the big ones. However, if you like you can sprinkle them with a bit of sugar or cinnamon before serving. Or better yet, if you aren’t worried about calories, these caramelized bananas are delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of Homemade Blueberry Syrup.

Health Benefits of Bananas

Not only are bananas super yummy, but they are also packed with potassium, which is good for heart health as well as fiber which is important for digestion and is said to help with inflammation. Bananas are also rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals like Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, and Magnesium. Not to mention, they boost energy and make you less hungry!

How to Make Fried Bananas

This recipe is very simple and only requires just 2 ingredients. A couple of bananas and a bit of oil. That’s it! I like to use olive oil, but you can use any type of vegetable oil or coconut oil.

To begin, you need to prep your bananas. So first peel them and cut each one in half. Then cut each piece in half lengthwise.

Next, add the olive oil to a large frying pan and then place the bananas in the pan flat side down. Now, turn the heat on to high and wait until you hear the oil begin to sizzle. Then turn the heat down to medium and cook the bananas for 3 minutes.

After the bananas have browned on the flat side, flip them over and cook them for another 3 minutes on the other side. Then once they are brown on both sides and have caramelized enough, remove them from the pan and serve them right away.

Storage

Leftover pan fried bananas will keep in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months when kept in an airtight container. To reheat, pop them in the microwave for about 3 minutes on medium power. You can also heat them in the oven on a sheet pan at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 7 minutes.
