Boneless Chicken Thighs On The Grill
This is a classic cookout recipe. Your guests will love the flavor of these grilled chicken thighs. And it’s so easy to cook them up on the grill. There are a few keys to grilling the perfect piece of chicken…
First, coat the chicken in a light layer of olive oil so the chicken doesn’t stick to the grill while it cooks. Next, watch the heat on your grill. All grills are differently, so you may need to turn the heat up or down to cook the chicken thighs through completely. And if some chicken pieces are cooking faster than others, you may need to switch their positions so all the chicken is cooked evenly.

How To Make Grilled Boneless Chicken Thighs
First preheat the grill to high heat. Close the lid so it preheats faster.
Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle seasonings on chicken thighs. Rub in toppings and flip chicken over.
Add olive oil and seasonings to other side of chicken and rub in once again. By now the grill should be preheated.
Reduce the heat to medium low and add chicken pieces to grill. Close the cover and allow the chicken to cook for 5 minutes.
Next, open the lid to check the chicken. Flip all the pieces over. Close the lid and cook for another 5 minutes.
Open the grill and flip the chicken again. Cook for another 4 minutes. The aim is to cook both sides of the chicken thighs evenly.
At this point (about 14 minutes total), you can check the internal temperature of the chicken thighs to see if they are cooked through. A meat thermometer should register at least 180 degrees in the center of each of the chicken thighs. If not, flip them over and cook for another few minutes before checking again.
If the chicken is done, use tongs to remove it from the grill. Lay out on a serving plate.
Cooking Tips
- Be sure to rub the olive oil all over the chicken so it doesn’t stick to the grill
- Adjust the heat depending on how hot your grill runs. If the chicken is charring, reduce the heat
- You may need to change the positions of some of the pieces of chicken so that they cook more evenly
- You can flip the chicken thighs a few times if you want to get even grill marks on both sides
