Cauliflower Steaks On The Grill

This recipe is perfect for cauliflower steaks you can serve as a low-carb side dish or chop up for a flavorful salad. With olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder, these steaks cook up lightly seasoned and delicious. You can also add any seasonings you enjoy on cauliflower. Try chili pepper, onion powder, Italian seasoning, or thyme & rosemary, just to name a few.

The grill gives the cauliflower steaks a distinct deep flavor while tenderizing them. The result is soft cauliflower with a slight bite. It’s a great texture for a veggie side dish. And you can top it with any sauce to serve!

How To Make Grilled Cauliflower Steaks

Preheat your grill to high and close the lid. This helps the grill to preheat faster.

Meanwhile, you’ll season the cauliflower. Cut the cauliflower into steak slices. Pour a little bit of olive oil into a small dish. Brush olive oil onto cauliflower. Sprinkle on salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Flip the cauliflower steaks over and top with more olive oil and seasonings.

Open grill and place cauliflower steaks inside. At this point, you may want to reduce the heat to low. It depends on how hot your grill runs. Close the lid and cook for 4 minutes.

Open the lid and carefully flip the cauliflower steaks. Cover the grill once again. Cook for 5 minutes.

Open the grill to check the cauliflower. You’ll cook them until they are tender to your liking. Typical cooking time is around 9 minutes, but they can take up to 15 minutes.

If the cauliflower is done, remove them from the grill. Turn off the heat. Place cauliflower on a serving plate and enjoy!

  • We’ll slice the cauliflower into steaks rather than florets, so the cauliflower stays on top of the grill and doesn’t fall through the grates
  • Use any kind of vegetable oil on these cauliflower steaks
  • Grill cauliflower with the lid closed for faster and more even cooking

How To Cut Cauliflower Steaks

Slice off any extra stem on the bottom so the cauliflower sits flat on the cutting board. Cut off the sides of the cauliflower and set aside. Then slice the cauliflower into about 1″ thick steak slices.
