How To Make Honey Cake
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prep a loaf pan with cooking spray or butter.
Crack two eggs into a mixing bowl and whisk up with a fork. Add brown sugar and whisk again to combine.
Pour in vegetable oil, honey, water, and vanilla extract. Stir to mix.
Now it’s time to add the dry ingredients. You’ll need flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Once all the ingredients are added, stir to blend everything together.
Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 45 minutes.
Check doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready. If not, bake for another 5-10 minutes and check again.
Once cake is done, let it cool down for 30 minutes, then flip out of the pan and onto a serving platter. Slice and enjoy!
Cooking Tips
- Be sure to coat both the sides and bottom of loaf pan with nonstick spray or butter for easier clean-up
- Measure out vegetable oil first so the honey slides right out of the measuring cup
- Honey caramelizes as it bakes, so the outside of the loaf may look brown, but still be perfectly cooked
Why Did My Honey Cake Come Out Dry?
A dry honey cake can be the result of using the incorrect ratio of ingredients (wet to dry), over mixing the batter, or overcooking the cake.
