Need to use up some apples? Make this Instant Pot applesauce! Delicious homemade applesauce takes just 5 minutes to make in the Instant Pot, and you don’t even need to peel the apples!
Once you taste this homemade applesauce, you’ll never ever want to eat store-bought! Homemade applesauce tastes so fresh and full of apple flavor, it’s simply epic! Store-bought applesauce is like a watered-down joke compared to homemade!
Instant Pot is the best tool for making applesauce. All you need to do is put sliced apples and 1/4 cup of water in the Instant Pot, pressure cook them for 5 minutes, then blend with a blender to make your applesauce smooth. Doesn’t get easier than that!
If you like cinnamon applesauce, feel free to add cinnamon! I love cinnamon in my applesauce! If you are not a fan of cinnamon, just don’t add it – the recipe and cooking method stays exactly the same :)
Lazy cooks rejoice! You don’t even need to peel apples for the applesauce! Of course you can peel them if you’d like, but it’s just unnecessary work in my opinion :) As you can see on the above picture, I just put sliced unpeeled apples into the Instant Pot and they turned into a smooth delicious applesauce – you can’t taste the peels thanks to a good blender!
You can use the immersion blender right in the pot of the Instant Pot!
When you first open the Instant Pot after cooking the apples for 5 minutes, they will look like this (peels and all, the brown stuff is cinnamon):
Then put in the blender stick and blend until smooth:
Bye-bye apple peels!
Another great thing about this homemade Instant Pot applesauce is that it’s sugar-free! Most apples are naturally sweet enough and you really don’t need to add extra sugar into your apple sauce! The only types of apple that would benefit from extra sweetener are those sour Granny Smith apples :)
When you make the apple sauce, you can taste it and if you think it needs extra sweetness, you can just stir it some honey afterwards! There is a 99% chance you’ll decide it’s already sweet enough!

Hi Melanie,
Just a short note to say thanks for the recipe idea.
I made this last week, so simple yet so tasty and an excellent way to consume apples that were getting ready to decompose.
Thanks again
Roddy
Today I’m making this for second time. I really like it!
Love love love that you recommended NOT peeling the apples. That’s where most of the fiber & nutrition is! Since we puree anyway, no need to discard/compost the peels, especially if using organic or home-grown or chemical free apples. And yes, it came out great! Thanks for this recipe.
I was able to make a naturally sweet applesauce now without any added sugars. Nice one!
No need to buy now from stores, thanks for the idea! I will just be making my own applesauce.
