Chicken Wings in the Instant Pot
It’s so easy to use the instant pot to make all sorts of chicken dishes. And it’s faster than cooking on a stovetop or in the oven. You can add any seasonings you love, and cook these up in an instant pot while you prep the side dishes. And if you prefer crispy skin, just pop them under the broiler or in the air fryer for a few minutes. You can really customize this recipe to your liking!
This recipe is easy enough for a quick weeknight dinner and can be boosted with seasonings for guests or hosting a home-gating party. A few flavorful ideas to try: Old Bay seasoning, BBQ seasoning, grill seasoning, or even red pepper flakes. You can also pump up the flavor (and fun!) by serving them with a variety of complimentary sauces, like horseradish sauce, blue cheese dressing, ranch dressing, or honey mustard. It’s really up to whatever you’re craving!

How To Make Instant Pot Chicken Wings
Start by prepping the instant pot for cooking. Pour in a cup of water. Add trivet, if you have one.
Now it’s time to season the wings. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to both sides of the wings.
Lay chicken wings on top of trivet and close lid of instant pot. Set to sealing position.
Pressure cook at high pressure for 15 minutes, then quick release the steam.
Once the pin has dropped and the pressure has released, open the instant pot and carefully remove the wings using tongs.
Cooking Tips
- Rub the seasoning on the wings to coat evenly
- These chicken wings hold onto to their seasoning best if cooked on trivet. However, if you do not have one, you can certainly cook them directly in the water.
- If you like crispy skin on the outside, take an additional step to broil the wings or heat for a few minutes in the air fryer.
How Much Water Do You Put In An Instant Pot For Chicken?
Add 1 cup of water to an instant pot when cooking chicken. Ideally, you would cook the chicken on top of a trivet, to keep the chicken out of the water while cooking. This helps the seasonings to stay on the chicken.
