I love lobster, like many people, was afraid to tackle it at home, until I discovered lobster tails cooked in my Instant Pot.   They came out cooked perfectly, not over done or tough, and super quick!  Lobster tails as SOOOO much easier to deal with than that whole intimidating crustacean, and so affordable – especially if you can pick them up on sale.   When I see the frozen ones on sale in my local super market, I grab up a bunch!   With my Instant Pot, these lobster tails will become delicious, impressive, gourmet meals so easily!

Lobster tails are so versatile!   Enjoy a steamed lobster tail with a small amount of melted butter combined with lemon juice and minced garlic – gourmet, fancy restaurant at its best (and simplest!).  Pair them with steak to make a succulent surf and turf dinner.  Shred cooked lobster meat into a salad, or use it in place of tuna when you make a tuna salad sandwich. Add cooked lobster meat to corn chowder, or sprinkle it over your favorite pasta  with a little alfredo sauce.   Or gourmet up your favorite pasta salad recipe for an easy, extra special summer dinner!

Instant Pot Lobster Tails (from fresh or frozen)

These Instant Pot lobster tails are perfectly cooked in less than 5 minutes! Lobster dinner at home for a fraction of a restaurant price! Instant Pot is a game changer!

Ingredients

  • 4 lobster tails fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Put water and lobster tails in the Instant Pot.
  • Close the Instant Pot lid and turn the valve to a Sealing position.
  • Press the "Pressure Cook" or "Manual" button and set the time to 2 minutes on High pressure for small lobster tails, 3 minutes for medium, and 4 minutes for large (add an extra 1 minute for frozen lobster tail).
  • When the Instant Pot is done cooking, quick release (QR) the steam.
  • Remove the cooked lobster tails from the Instant Pot and serve. Enjoy!

Notes

You can cook any quantity of lobster tails in the Instant Pot, the cooking time and amount of water remains the same.

  1. I’ve found most recipes are a bit over done for my tastes, plus I was only going to cook 2 fresh, not frozen tails, I put the on High for 2 mins. Personally, I’d try 1 min with 30 secs NPR, the a QR, but this turned out well.

    All the other insta pot recipes are so much more complicated. I did cut the tails down the center and separate the meat from the sides to “pop” them up.
