Carrots Steamed In The Microwave
If you’re looking for an easy side dish, this is it! Once you steam the carrots you can add any seasonings or sauces. They are also delicious on their own. Soft, with a slight bite, carrots are cooked perfectly in the microwave.
You can use baby carrots or regular carrots for this recipe. Baby carrots can go straight in the microwave-safe dish. Regular carrots should be prepped by peeling and slicing into small logs. The carrot pieces should all be about the same size for best results. Cook then season and serve!

How To Make Microwave Steamed Carrots
Add about 16 oz of baby carrots (1 package) to a microwave-safe dish.
Pour in 1/4 cup of water. Cover up dish and place in microwave.
Heat for 6 minutes or until the carrots are tender to your liking. Pierce them with a fork to check tenderness. If need be, cover up and cook for a few more minutes.
When they are done cooking, carefully remove the carrot dish from the microwave. Use a spoon to mix up all the cooked carrots and rehydrate them with the excess water.
Use a slotted spoon to move the carrots from the container to a serving bowl or plate. Season if desired and serve!

- If you do not have a microwave-safe cover for your container, top it with a microwave-safe plate to seal in the moisture
- You can make this dish with baby carrots or regular carrots. If you’re using the latter, be sure to peel and cut the carrots into smaller pieces before cooking
- Be careful when removing the carrot dish from the microwave as it will be hot. Oven mitts or a dish towel are helpful for handling
How Long Does It Take To Soften Carrots In The Microwave?
Add carrots to a covered, microwave-safe dish with 1/4 cup of water and heat for 6 minutes. By this point, the carrots should be fork-tender. If not, cover dish again and heat for another few minutes until they are cooked to your liking.
