How To Make Pan Fried Gnocchi
No need to boil the gnocchi first. The oil and heat soften the pasta in the pan.
Add about a teaspoon of oil to the bottom of the skillet. Set heat to high.
Add in minced garlic and wait until the oil starts to sizzle. At this point, reduce the heat to medium.
Pour in the entire package of gnocchi. Mix the gnocchi up to coat in oil and garlic.
Heat for about 8 minutes, stirring every minute, until gnocchi is heated through. You may need to turn the heat up to medium high. The oil should be sizzling without burning the gnocchi.
Now add the seasonings: pepper and Italian seasoning. Sprinkle in grated parmesan cheese. Then stir the gnocchi with a spatula to mix it in with the seasonings.
Turn off the heat and move the cooked gnocchi to a serving plate.
Cooking Tips
- Add just enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan
- This recipe makes slightly firmer gnocchi than the traditional method of boiling. If you prefer the gnocchi softer, boil it first and then pan fry it.
- No need for salt once you add the parmesan cheese, but you can sprinkle some salt in if you would like
