Health Benefits of Broccoli

There are so many reasons why adding more broccoli to your diet is a great idea! Not only can it taste delicious when cooked, but it is also very nutritious.

Here are some of the health benefits of broccoli:

  • Broccoli is loaded with a ton of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. These include Vitamin C, A, K, B8, Potassium, Phosphorus, and Selenium.
  • Broccoli also contains powerful antioxidants that help keep your cells and tissues healthy.

How to Prepare Sautéed Broccoli

First make sure to wash your broccoli before starting.

Then chop off the stems and cut the broccoli head into smaller chunks so it will cook faster and be easy to bite into.

Next add some olive oil or vegetable oil to a large pan. You can use as much or as little as you like. Non-stick pans don’t need much oil at all.

Then add your broccoli to the pan.

Then add some salt, pepper, and garlic powder or any others you prefer!

Place the pan on the stovetop. Turn the heat on to high.

Wait until the pan heats up and the oil is sizzling. Then mix the broccoli with a spatula.

Next you will cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to medium-low. Let cook undisturbed for 3 minutes.

Then uncover the pan and mix the broccoli. It should be nicely browned on the bottom.

Turn the heat back up to medium-high and cook, stirring every minute, for about 5 minutes, or until it is cooked to your preference.

You can taste a piece and see if you like it and if it needs more time, continue cooking.

Transfer to a plate when done and let cool slightly before serving.

Cooking Tip

Did you know that the broccoli stems are edible? Yes, its true!

What I like to do is use a peeler to take off the outer tough layer of the stem. Then I thinly slice the stem and sauté it with other vegetables. It becomes very tender and delicious!
