How To Make Sautéed Leeks

First you need to prep the leeks for cooking. Wash thoroughly and then cut off the green top. It’s inedible.

Next slice the white part in half, lengthwise. Finally chop those halves into bite-sized slices.

Heat a skillet on high heat and add olive oil and leeks. Once the oil starts sizzling, the pan is ready to sauté. Turn heat down to medium high.

Next you’ll turn the heat down once again to medium heat. Cook for an additional 8 minutes or until leeks are soft and caramelized, stirring occasionally.

At this point, add the seasonings. This recipe calls for salt and pepper, but you can add any additional dried herbs or seasonings that you love on vegetables.

How To Make Fried Leeks

Similar to sautéing leeks, you can make fried leeks in a skillet on the stove top. But while sautéing them involves adding the vegetables to a hot pan with just a bit of oil, fried leeks cook at a lower temperature with more cooking oil. Frying is a better method for ingredients that may need longer to cook through and therefore should be cooked at a lower temperature to avoid burning.
