How To Make Watermelon Tomato Salad
This recipe uses fresh produce for a crunchy salad that’s full of flavor. Start by prepping the ingredients. Slice a quarter off of a whole watermelon. Wash tomatoes and basil.
Cut the watermelon away from the rind. Slice into wedges and chop watermelon into pieces. Add to a big salad bowl.
Cut tomatoes in half, then into slices. Cut further into pieces and add to bowl.
Chop basil leaves away from stems. Discard stems. Run knife through basil a few times to chop into small pieces. Add to bowl.
Slice off ends of onion and peel away outer layer. Cut onion into slices and chop into pieces. Add these to bowl.
Sprinkle 1/4 tsp of salt and 1/8 tsp of pepper on the produce. Or add seasonings to taste. Salt is great for enhancing the flavor of the watermelon.
Now it’s time to make the dressing. Pour olive oil and balsamic vinegar into a small cup. Whisk to combine and pour dressing over salad. Toss everything together. Salad is ready to serve.
