Air Fryer Rainbow Trout is a delicious and healthy meal that comes together in minutes. Simply season the fish and heat in the air fryer until fork-tender. Yum!
No need to defrost this trout, the air fryer cooks it from frozen. Open up the package of rainbow trout and place one fillet in the air fryer basket.
Replace basket in air fryer and heat trout at 400 degrees for 5 minutes (just to thaw the fish).
Open up air fryer and drizzle fish with olive oil. Use a pastry brush to coat completely. This adds flavor and prevents the fish from drying out while cooking.
Sprinkle on seasonings: salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Feel free to substitute with any seasonings you prefer on fish.
Add basket back to air fryer and cook again at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Then, use a meat thermometer to check the fish. It should read at least 145 degrees. The aim is to cook the fish completely without drying it out. If the fish has not reached the required temperature, place basket back in air fryer and cook for another few minutes. Then check the fillet again.
Once trout is done cooking, use a spatula to carefully remove it from the air fryer basket. Place on a serving plate.
