Prep the broccoli and cauliflower: wash and lay them out to chop. Cut off the stems and chop up the florets into small pieces. Add the broccoli and cauliflower pieces to a large salad bowl.Chop off the stem of the onion and peel the whole onion. Slice it first, then chop into small pieces. Add them to the bowl.Add bacon, sunflower seeds, and raisins to the salad bowl. Mix to combine.Pour in 3/4 cup of ranch dressing (or more or less to taste) and toss everything together. Now it's ready to serve!

It's important to cut the broccoli and cauliflower into small pieces so it's a chopped salad and all the flavors can combine
You can add salt and pepper, but the bacon and ranch dressing have plenty of salt. Or you can omit the bacon and ranch and season as you like
Raisins are optional, you can omit them if you prefer, but they do add a nice subtle sweetness to the dish
