Naturally Sweet Fruit Infused Hibiscus Ice Tea - Zero Calorie Drink!

Have you ever tried red hibiscus tea?  The first time I tried it, I could swear that it was sweetened!  Turns out that hibiscus is naturally sweet, meaning that you get the sweetness without any added sugar or sweetener!

Hibiscus tea is an herbal tea, as it is made out of hibiscus flower and not the regular tea plant.  Hibiscus tea has red color and a natural sweet-and-sour flavor.   You can find packages of hibiscus tea bags in large supermarkets, in the herbal tea section.

Hibiscus tea has such strong flavor that a little goes a long way!  This huge pitcher of ice tea is made using just 3 tea bags!  Even though the package says 1 tea bag per 1 cup of tea, 3 tea bags are enough to flavor the whole pitcher as long as you use a longer brewing time of 30 minutes.  Amazingly delicious red ice tea for pennies per cup – you won’t buy bottled drinks ever again!

Another great thing about this red hibiscus tea is that is caffeine free.  You can drink it in the evening without it affecting your sleep!   I make a pitcher and drink it throughout the day whenever I feel like it!  This ice tea is so flavorful and so refreshing!

This recipe infuses the ice tea with sliced apples and blackberries – delicious!  You can use any fruits and berries of your choice – they’ll all make this tea amazing!  Or you can simply omit the fruits and just make the plain hibiscus ice tea – it’s awesome too!

Making this iced tea is super easy – just put tea bags and fruits in a pitcher, pour boiling water over them and you are done.  I use an electric tea pot to quickly heat the water to boiling.  If you don’t have a tea pot, you can heat the water in a microwave directly in a pitcher (as long as your pitcher is microwave-safe), then add the tea bags and the fruits to the hot water.

Beautiful red color and floating fruits make this tea look amazing!  You can serve it at parties too – it will be a hit!  Nobody will believe it’s sugar free! A sweet drink that has no sugar, no chemical sweeteners and no calories – it sounds like it’s too good to be true :)  It’s totally true though and it’s in front of you.  Make this delicious hibiscus ice tea today – you’ll love it!

  1. This recipe sounds amazing! Would frozen berries work? I have those on hand all the time. I canโ€™t wait to try this, especially to replace my kiddos juice drinks. Thank you!
